|Shipboard waste water treatment systems, fitted after 1 January 2010 must be IMO approved to MEPC.159(55). The effluent requirements under this current MARPOL resolution are significantly more stringent than was the case for the previous resolution.|
With the RWO type WWT-LC we offer proven technology for Canadian ship owners. The biological destruction of organic matter in the waste water requires aeration. The air diffuser in the RWO system creates consistently small air bubbles, for optimal oxygen supply to the aerobic process.
Final sterilization of the effluent is normally done with chlorination followed by neutralization, to meet the low Cl requirement of the resolution; alternatively, ultra violet sterilization can be used.
